GHA Training Series: Session 3 – Common Public Benefits

This session will serve as a foundation for the other benefit-related sessions. This session provides a brief overview of SSDI, Medicare and Medicare financial assistance, SSI, and Medicaid, including what each benefit is (cash, health insurance), who can receive the benefit (eligibility criteria), which agency administers the benefit, and how to confirm which benefits the prospective business owner receives. This session will also include information about organizations in the VA, MD, DC area that provide support and advice on benefits, including work incentives counseling.
