She holds a bachelor’s degree from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and a Professional of Insurance Regulation designation from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. CRCs/certificate of attendance are available. \nWho should attend:  \nBenefits planners\, VR counselors and others helping SSA disability recipients return to work via self-employment. \nCourse Description: \nThis exciting five-part series will discuss the creation of a business and the impacts of business/personal income on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. \nSelf-employment opportunities are only limited by one’s imagination. Home-based\, computer-based and storefront opportunities allow the tailoring of a business to best suit one’s disabilities. At the same time\, self-employment is a lot of work and requires balancing benefits and new income. Join us to see if a self-owned business is a good possibility for your client. \nWe will begin with a discussion about business creation\, business format and the building of an employment team to support your client’s efforts. \nA thorough discussion of the Social Security Administration (SSA) rules concerning self-employment\, income reporting and accounting will cover the SSDI rules concerning self-employment income and its impact on SSDI benefits. \nThis will be followed by a discussion of all SSA rules concerning self-employment and its income on SSI benefits. \nHealthcare is among the most important issues for any recipient of disability benefits who is considering a self-employment future.
