As well\, it offers students the opportunity to explore ways to give back to the community through their innovative ideas. \nEligibility:\n1. There is no fee for entry.\n2. A proposal may be submitted by an individual or as a teams up to 2 members.\n3. Each individual and/or team may submit only one proposal for consideration.\n4. All participants\, including those submitting as a team\, must be currently enrolled as a degree seeking student at Gallaudet University.\n4. Students who are currently on academic or disciplinary probation are not eligible to participate.\n5.. The deadline to submit a proposal is February 2\, 2025 at 11:59 pm eastern. You’ll learn how identifying personal financial goals is a critical first step—and how each strategy can help individuals build financial stability\, increase independence and create opportunities for wealth building. \nSession Three: Review of Benefits from the Social Security Administration\nMarch 25\, 2026: 1pm-2pm ET\nThis session will provide an overview of the disability programs administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and how working is a choice\, which can lead to financial stability for persons with disabilities. Learn to separate myths from facts\, Medicare and Medicaid and more. \nSession Four: Extra Costs of Living with a Disability/Dispelling Myths\nApril 29\, 2026: 1pm-2pm ET\nOur final session will examine out-of-pocket costs associated with living with a disability. These expenses can strain household finances and increase the risk of poverty for individuals with disabilities and their families. \nThe live and recorded webinars will have American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters and CART providing captioning. Recordings will be available after each event. \nMarch 18\, 2026: SSDI and Self-Employment  \nIf you receive (or work with recipients of) SSDI benefits\, did you know there are work incentives if you are interested in\, or begin to\, work?  \nThis session will take you through the basics of SSDI eligibility and all available work incentives\, such as:  \n\nthe Trial Work Period\,  \n\n\nthe Re-Entitlement Period\,  \n\n\nImpairment Related Work Expenses (IRWEs) and  \n\n\nSubsidies and Special Conditions. \n\nHave you (or your recipient) performed Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) in a month? Are you sure?
